UFA, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarus welcomes the open nature of the BRICS association and is ready to take an active part in various avenues of cooperation as a friendly state. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during the meeting of leaders of the BRICS member states and leaders of the invited countries on 9 July, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state said: “We have been consistently promoting the idea of integration of integrations in the modern world for a long time. Belarus is a natural ally of BRICS in building mutually beneficial and equal relations between the West and the East, the North and the South without dividing lines.”
“Belarus can definitely be called a member of the club of BRICS friends. We have managed to establish mutually beneficial relations with all the countries of the association,” stressed the Belarusian leader.
Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that Belarus is a reliable and predictable partner. “We don't have conflicts in our own territory and don't pose problems for the neighbors. We steadily take care of the security of the common borders and of the transit of energy resources. We effectively counteract drugs trafficking and illegal migration. We pursue a peace-loving foreign policy,” said the Belarus President.
As the leader of the country presiding in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2015, Alexander Lukashenko stated that Belarus is ready to support special formats of interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union and the BRICS association.
The President noted that Belarus thinks highly of BRICS' contribution to the promotion and safeguarding of interests of transition economy countries and developing nations in the international scene. “We hope for a committed stance of BRICS on forming a fairer international economic and financial system,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
