Moscow Oblast interested in advancing agricultural cooperation with Minsk Oblast

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – Moscow Oblast is interested in bolstering agricultural cooperation with Minsk Oblast, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Oblast Government Denis Butsayev said at the meeting of the Moscow Oblast delegation with Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Semyon Shapiro on 10 July, BelTA has learned.

“Minsk Oblast has big experience in vegetable and crop farming, milk and meat animal husbandry. We would like to use the best practices and technologies of Belarusian colleagues,” Denis Butsayev noted.

He invited Minsk Oblast companies to take part in the project to build vegetable storage facilities in Moscow Oblast. It will help raise the delivery of vegetables to the Russian market.

Minsk Oblast Governor Semyon Shapiro, in turn, expressed readiness to help Russian colleagues develop agriculture. “We must look for new areas of common interest, expand mutually beneficial cooperation. The Minsk Oblast Executive Committee is ready to help promote relations between the companies of Moscow Oblast and Minsk Oblast,” he said.

The Russian delegation will visit the agricultural company Zhdanovichi, Minsk dairy factory No. 1, Amkodor.

In January-May 2015 the bilateral trade of Minsk Oblast and Moscow Oblast made up almost $259 million, export totaled $170.5 million, import - $88.3 million.

In 2014 the trade turnover of Belarus and Russia's Moscow Oblast increased by 2.5% from the level of 2013 to exceed %5.49 billion, export made up $3.352 billion, import - $2.138 billion. Over the past five years the bilateral relations have been increasingly vibrant, Belarus' export to this Russian region has been on the rise. Belarus is the largest trade partner of Moscow Oblast. Moscow is the second largest importer of Belarusian products among Russian regions.

The Republic of Belarus and Moscow Oblast have signed 25 intergovernmental and industry-specialized agreements, over 50 agreements on partnership between towns, cooperation of districts and municipalities. The sides are now planning to sign a joint program of trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Moscow Oblast for 2016-2018. The sides are also mulling over the projects to deliver Amkodor products to Moscow Oblast agricultural companies, projects on cooperation in agricultural production, pharmaceutical industry, projects to develop housing and utilities objects in Moscow Oblast with the participation of Belarusian enterprises.
