CHISINAU, 12 August (BelTA) – The 13th session of the Belarus-Moldova intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation will be held in Chisinau in October 2011, BelTA learned from the Embassy of Belarus in Moldova.
The exact date of the session will be specified through diplomatic channels.
Belarus and Moldova will discuss the state of efforts in the bilateral trade and economic relations, define concrete steps to promote bilateral trade, implement joint projects to assemble tractors and trolleybuses in Moldova. The session will also focus on the participation of Belarusian companies in the construction of roads, measures to raise Belarus’ export to Moldova, etc.
The previous session of the Belarus-Moldova intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation took place in Minsk on 15-16 February 2010. Belarus and Moldova outlined activities to strengthen cooperation in priority avenues, increase bilateral trade. The parties signed an intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation for 2010-2013.
The intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation contributes to strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. BelTA reported earlier that Belarus’ trade surplus with Moldova went up 2.1 times on the same period last year to reach $67 million. In H1 2011 Belarus’ export to Moldova increased some 55.9% over the same period last year to $101.6 million; the import grew by 5.4% to $34.6 million. Belarus-Moldova bilateral trade soared 39% to the total of $136.2 million.
