MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Belarus will temporarily suspend the import of poultry meat from Israel and the UK, BelTA learned from the Veterinary and Food Control Department at the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“According to the World Organization for Animal Health, high pathogenic avian influenza H5 was registered in Central District of Israel,” the department said.
In this regard, on 21 February Belarus will introduce temporary restrictions on the import of live birds, wild, zoo, and circus animals, incubator eggs, down and feather, poultry meat and all kinds of poultry-breeding products, forage and forage additives made of poultry, and second-hand equipment used to keep and slaughter poultry from the abovementioned region.
The same measures will be applied to the poultry meat from Hampshire County of the UK where cases of low pathogenic H7 subtype avian influenza were reported.
