The European Union defies the norms and principles of international law, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Andrei Savinykh told BelTA on 21 March. The Belarusian official stressed that “the policy of sanctions has proved its inefficiency many times”.
He noted that the EU decision is an outright attempt to bring pressure on the judicial system of the sovereign state.
“The European Union demonstrates complete disregard for the norms and principles of international law. Such decisions discredit the EU declarations promoting democracy and European values,” Andrei Savinykh stated.
Andrei Savinykh stressed that control has been strengthened over illegal financing of political activities through foreign socio-political associations and foundations and their offices in the territory of Belarus.
Belarus will continue contacts with Western partners, but visits of American and European political delegations to this country will be possible only at an invitation from the legislative and executive authorities of Belarus.
