Lithuanian authorities deliberately and artificially foment the tension around Belarus within the framework of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the current chairman of which is Foreign Minister of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Savinykh on April 6.
"Numerous comments by Foreign Minister of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis regarding allegedly growing «self-isolation» of Belarus which he further extends both to the «government and people» cannot be deemed anything else but an attempt on the part of the Lithuanian Chairmanship of the OSCE to deliberately and artificially fuel tensions around Belarus within that organization and to achieve some goals pursued by the Chairmanship, - press Secretary Andrei Savinykh commented on statements by the Lithuanian Foreign Minister regarding Belarus self-isolation, the mfa.gov.by reported. - I believe that the Chairmanship is aware in substance that Belarus has been and remains an active member of the international community and is open to constructive co-operation within the OSCE. Specific proposals on the issue has been officialy filed with the current Chairmanship".
