Belarusian Prosecutor Shved: No link between Minsk metro terrorists, Breivik

2 days ago at 16:12 | Interfax-Ukraine

Minsk, August 1 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Prosecutor General's Office has called the media reports a canard as they are claiming an alleged relationship between the perpetrators of the Belarusian terror acts and Norwegian terrorist Anders Breivik.

"There is no such information; that is impossible," Belarusian Deputy Prosecutor General Andrei Shved said in answer to an Interfax question on Monday.

"I am confident that this is a canard, nothing else," he said.

A double terror act was committed in Oslo and on the Island of Utoya on July 22. According to the latest reports, 77 people died. First, there was an explosion near governmental buildings, among them the prime minister's office in the center of Oslo, and several hours later a man wearing a police uniform went on a shooting spree in the summer camp of the ruling party in Utoya.

Norwegian Anders Breivik, 32, is suspected of both crimes. He said he wanted to save Norway and Europe from immigrants, primarily, from Muslims.

The Belarusian State Border Committee said last week that Breivik visited Belarus as a tourist in March 2005.
