The Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospischeprom and the German company Uniferm have signed an investment contract to build a yeast factory in Slutsk District, Belgospischeprom’s representatives told BelTA.
Estimated at €25 million, the project provides for foreign direct investments. The German company Uniferm is the investor. The Slutsk sugar refinery is the Belarusian partner. The joint venture Interferm has been set up to build the factory.
The future enterprise will be able to turn out roughly 20,000 tonnes of bakery yeast per annum. The capacity may be increased in the future. The volume will satisfy the domestic demand and create an export potential. The enterprise is supposed to turn out the first batch of the make in December 2012.
The new yeast manufacturer will be based at premises of the Slutsk sugar refinery because molasses solution, a byproduct of sugar beet processing, is used as the basis to make yeast. The future enterprise will be able to make pressed yeast, dry yeast and granulated yeast.
The investment project was presented at the Belarusian Investment Forum in Frankfurt am Main on 17 November 2010.
