President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus has enormous perspectives of development relations with Qatar. In particular, he said "Belarus has unique abilities, and Qatar - huge financial resources." "They do not have enough opportunities, while we lack financial resources. It’s time be more active," the head of state.
The president said that Qatar offers to create powerful financial and logistic centers in Belarus. "We are ready to provide an opportunity for the construction of logistics centers near Orsha and Brest," he said, BelTA informs.
Emir of Qatar Willing to Build his Residence in Belarus
Alexander Lukashenko also said that he intends to give some area in Brest voblast to create "the Qatari island in Europe," where Qatari banks, business and cultural centers of the Arab Gulf, housing and social infrastructure are planned for construction.
In addition, the emir of Qatar is interested in building houses in Belarus, including his residence and a large sports and hotel complex on the avenue near the football arena on the Winners’ Avenue.
According to the president, the heads of Belarus and Qatar hold similar views on the optimal development strategy in today's globalized world. "Small medium-sized countries should stick together, we have no mutual claims," he said.
Alexander Lukashenko has invited the Emir of Qatar to visit Belarus in the winter. He noted that officials of both countries had received all necessary instructions and are to organize and structure the areas of cooperation within a month. After that, the business community of both countries will meet first in Belarus, then in Qatar. It is also planned to hold the days of Belarus’ Culture in Qatar and Qatar's Culture Days in Belarus.
