MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – The seventh joint board session of the Belarusian and Russian Emergencies Ministries will take place in Kamenets District, Brest Oblast, on 23 August. The meeting will focus on civil defense, emergency situations, and the mitigation of consequences of natural disasters, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.
Partaking in the session will be emergencies ministers of Belarus and Russia Vladimir Vashchenko and Sergei Shoigu. The session will focus on the cooperation of both ministries in the mitigation of consequences of accidents which occur during the transportation of gas, oil and oil products and other dangerous substances. The parties will also share practices in the prevention of fires in residential areas. High on the agenda will be further cooperation of fire fighters in preventing emergency situations in border areas.
The parties will also discuss cooperation in providing psychological aid to people in emergency situations. There are plans to adopt a joint program to train personnel for the Belarusian and Russian emergencies ministries in universities of both countries for the period of 2012-2015.
