Belarus, South Africa to carry out several innovative projects

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Belarus and South Africa intend to perform a series of joint scientific and technical projects, BelTA learned from representatives of the Belarusian Institute for System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere (BelISA).

Terms of cooperation between scientists of the two countries were discussed in Johannesburg a while ago where Belarus’ booth was presented at the South African international trade expo SAITEX. At the expo multiple meetings with representatives of South African companies and companies from neighboring countries were held. Around 50 of them resulted in concrete negotiations on possible cooperation, said the source.

South African businessmen were most interested in Belarusian achievements in medicine, metallurgy, material science, road construction, laser and nano technologies. Close attention was paid to Belarusian technologies for material hardening, plasma cutting and hydroabrasive cutting of metals, equipment to control temperature and content of metals, methods to process ores and non-metallic materials, ways to make cubic gravel to manufacture concrete and build roads.

The sides came to terms on cooperation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and research centers of South Africa in such areas as information technologies, mechanical engineering, medical, electronic and bio technologies. The possibility of arranging joint training of personnel with the highest scientific qualifications was discussed. In addition, Belarus received several proposals regarding the promotion of Belarusian scientific and technical products in South Africa.
