LIDA, 18 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company OAO Lidselmash will become the basic platform to make industrial greenhouses, Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told the press on 18 August.
Negotiations with foreign investors are underway to set up a joint venture with export interests in mind. For the sake of assessing whether Lidselmash is fit to make industrial greenhouses, technical specialists of the Israeli company Merhav, which is interested in investing in the project, have examined Lidselmash.
In the near future Lidselmash specialists are expected to visit the Polish city of Olsztyn where the Israeli company has built a facility and is working on another one. They will have to determine how many components Lidselmash will be able to produce locally at the start. After that the form of cooperation between the Belarusian company and the Israeli one will be decided upon.
Mikhail Myasnikovich also praised Lidselmash’s rather successful operation. Over the last few years the company has considerably renewed its main assets, several investment projects have been accomplished. The company has started manufacturing grain dryers, modern equipment for grass cutting and radiators for water heating systems. The company launched an investment project in 2010 to manufacture mechanized granaries of the silage type.
On 18 August the Prime Minister visited an installation under construction in the town of Lida. An enterprise to protect metal products from corrosion through hot galvanizing is under construction in the village of Dolina, Lida District.
Lidselmash, the Lida-based manufacturer of agricultural machines is one of Belarus’ oldest enterprises. It was founded in 1901 and was re-incorporated as an open joint-stock company in 1994. Lidselmash offers grain dryers and grain storage installations, harrows, seeders and other agricultural machines.
