August 11, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree № 367 "On some issues of civil service." The head of state will leave 65-year-old officials at the civil service, despite the retirement age.
The head of state will take the decision "based on the demand from the state of their professional knowledge, skills, experiences; they may be left in public service if they want to."
The officer's application to stay in the civil service beyond the age limit should be made within three months until the age of 65. The decree comes into force on the date of its publication.
As Telegraf previously reported, February 16, Vladimir Semashko said that the government didn't exclude the possibility of disbanding the Department of Trade and the Ministry of Housing. According to the deputy head of the Government, Ministry of Trade is under question, while Ministry of Utility Services has outlived itself.
"The idea is to eliminate the ministry and to pass its functions to the Ministry of Architecture and Construction, while the functions of provision with heating and electricity should be passed to the Ministry of Energy," he explained.
