MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) will boost exports by 30-40% in 2012, Director General of the company Alexander Borovsky said at the celebration ceremony in honor of young specialists who have recently graduated from Minsk universities, BelTA has learned.
“In 2012 we are planning to raise exports by 30-40%; the output is expected to increase some 10%,” Alexander Borovsky said.
First Deputy Director General for Economy and Finance Viktor Kolechits added that in January-July 2011 Minsk Automobile Plant’s export went up 2.2 times as against the same period last year to reach $544 million.
In 2011 the company’s output made up about $1.5 billion (without VAT). The growth rate is expected to reach 153-155%. In 2011 the plant hopes to manufacture about 20,500 cars, 2,000 buses, about 6,000 trailers, 400-500 cranes, and 50-70 items of special equipment per month depending on the demand. In January-July 2011 MAZ manufactured Br2.4 trillion worth of products. The output went up 61.8%.
As of today, Minsk Automobile Plant employs almost 23,000 people. About 1,500 young specialists of MAZ have higher education; almost 1,700 employees are college graduates. On 23 August Minsk Automobile Plant extended a warm welcome to 220 graduates of Minsk universities.
Founded in 1944, Minsk Automobile Plant was reincorporated into an open joint stock company in 2009. The company manufactures truck tractors, high-sided trucks, medium-capacity automobiles, dump trucks, log trucks, short log trucks, cross country vehicles, buses and trolleybuses. MAZ offers over 250 modifications of automobiles, over 60 modifications of trailers, 12 models of buses and over 30 bus modifications.
