MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – In January-July 2011, the Grodno-based shoe factory Neman exported $523,000 worth of products, up 28.4% over the same period last year, BelTA learnt from Deputy Director (Marketing and Sales) of the company Alla Zharina.
The Deputy Director noted that this year the company expanded sales in the non-CIS countries, while the exports to Russia somewhat shrank because of the significant backlogs of inventories of Russian shoe producers from last year. Nevertheless, Russia remained the company’s largest export destination accounting for 65% of its overseas sales. Other big sales markets include Mongolia (16%), Latvia (14%), Lithuania and Estonia. Bellegprom instructed the company to increase exports by 17% this year.
Neman started exporting to Mongolia this year. The company has already sold $83,400 worth of footwear to this country; another $100,000 worth of shoes (mainly women’s shoes) are to be exported by the end of the year. However, the exports to Mongolia are not regular, local customers are still shopping around.
In January-July this year, the company produced Br23.3 billion worth of footwear in comparable prices (96% as against the same period last year). Over the seven months, Neman rolled out 385,000 pairs of footwear. Half of it were children’s shoes, about 30% were men’s shoes and 20% women’s shoes. As of 1 August, the backlogs of inventories made 133% while the limit was set at 160%.
In January-July the company’s revenues rose by 57.2% over the same period a year before to make Br38.1 billion. Net profit increased by 35.5% to Br2.2 billion. The capital investments totaled Br205 million.
The Grodno-based shoe factory Neman was established in 1947. It offers men’s, women’s and children’s footwear from real leather and textiles. The company markets its products under the following brands: Neman, Elefas, Lady-N, Assol and Jambo. The company also makes special-purpose footwear. Neman is part of the Bellegprom concern.
