Few dozens people gathered today at the October square in Minsk to show their solidarity with Ales Bialatski, head of Viasna human rights center. They handed out flayers calling on releasing Bialatski and encouraged people to sign that they vouch for the prisoner.
The demonstration was held only for few minutes – all the participants were detained and taken to a police station. Ales Abramovich and Alekh Mikhalevich participated in the solidarity rally, informed Radio Svaboda.
Ales Bialatski - deputy chairman of the International Federation of Human Rights and a head of the human rights center Viasna was arrested on August 4th on charges of big-scale tax evasion. Belarusian authorities based the accusations on documents handed over by the Lithuanian Ministry of Justice and Polish Prosecutor General. According to Tatiana Ravyak from Vyasna, Bialtski is facing up to seven years in prison and property loss.
