MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) - At the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations held during the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, Belarus proposed to discuss mechanisms to support talented young people, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
The Belarusian delegation at the event was headed by Head of International Organizations at the Foreign Ministry Vladimir Pavlovich. He informed the participants about Belarus’ efforts to maintain the intercultural and interreligious dialogue. In this context Vladimir Pavlovich drew attention to the Belarusian initiative on the recognition of diversity of ways of progressive development.
Within the framework of the Belarusian initiative in the UN on the promotion of prosperity of future generations, Vladimir Pavlovich urged the Alliance to discuss mechanisms to support talented young people, and expressed willingness to cooperate more closely in this matter.
Attending the meeting were representatives of 47 governments and international organizations. The meeting participants discussed the main priorities for future activities of the Alliance.
The meeting participants also discussed the topic of national efforts to combat religious and cultural intolerance. States-members of the Group of Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations spoke in favor of building up the UN program activities in this area.
