Household income in 2011 not below 2010 level, Myasnikovich says

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Real income of the population in 2011 should not be lower than it was in 2010, Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich told the Council of Ministers on 2 August.

Summarizing the results of the country’s social and economic development in H1 2011 and voicing the annual tasks, Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed that in its work the government should focus on people’s problems. “Whatever tasks we address, please remember that the major thing here is a person, the quality and standard of his living. This is the meaning of our work,” the Premier stated addressing the government. “In 2011 the real earnings of the people should be not lower than they were last year,” he added.

The Prime Minister also dwelled on the issues of the housing program. “We will continue the program but we will prioritize economical and effective projects. I think it is necessary to urge customers to promptly review the itemized lists of the construction projects 2011-2012,” the Prime Minister said. According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, financial resources should be concentrated on the almost-complete projects. Other objects should be offered, in the prescribed manner, to domestic and foreign investors. The government construction watchdogs should fundamentally change their work practices in order to reduce the estimated costs and improve construction quality.

The head of government paid special attention to the quality of the harvesting campaign in Belarus. “We have resolved all the issues related to the logistics of the harvesting campaign. The main thing now is to harvest and store the crops. Local authorities, in close collaboration with scientists, trade unions need to make sure there are no delays and losses in the cruse of the harvesting campaign,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. “This is the key to the food security and efficiency of agricultural production,” concluded the Prime Minister.
