Mistrzostwa hokeja w kraju szykan i bezprawia - Polskie Radio

Organizacja tak radosnego wydarzenia nie powinna mieć miejsca w kraju, który szykanuje swoich obywateli i który pogrążony jest w bezprawiu - podkreśla europoseł Marek Migalski. Na Białorusi mają się odbyć hokejowe mistrzostwa świata.

Federacja Hokeja na Lodzie nie rezygnuje z organizacji mistrzostw świata 2014 roku w Mińskui. Takie stanowisko potwierdził 5 stycznia szef Międzynarodowej Federacji Hokeja na Lodzie, Rene Fasel.

Eurposeł Marek Migalski komentując tę decyzję dla "Raportu Białoruś" podkreśla, że powinno się działać wszelkimi możliwymi środkami aby zmienić miejsce organizacji igrzysk. - Byłby to bolesny cios dla Aleksandra Łukaszenki, który pasjonuje się tym sportem - dodaje.

Europoseł Marek Migalski wyraził żal, że Międzynarodowa Federacja Hokeja na Lodzie nie bierze pod uwagę przy sytuacji społecznej kraju przy wyborze miejsca dla ważnych imprez sportowych.

Apele o pozbawienie Białorusi prawa do organizacji mistrzostw świata hokeju na lodzie pojawiły się po brutalnym rozpędzeniu demonstracji opozycyjnej po wyborach 19 grudnia 2010 roku w Mińsku i fali represji wobec opozycji. W więzieniach pozostają nadal rywale Aleksandra Łukaszenki w wyborach i inni opozycjoniści. Służby więzienne nie przestrzegają podstawowych praw więźniów, o ich losie nie ma wiadomości tygodniami. Jeden z więźniów politycznych, Mykoła Autuchowicz, kilka tygodni temu w więzieniu podciął sobie żyły.

W grudniu Kongres USA przyjął "Akt o demokracji i prawach człowieka na Białorusi", w którym wzywa do zamrożenia mistrzostw do czasu uwolnienia wszystkich więźniów politycznych. O nieprzyznawanie tych mistrzostw Białorusi m.in. apelował Jerzy Buzek, przewodniczący europarlamentu. Parlament Europejski przyjął rezolucję w tej sprawie. Tę prośbę popierało wiele znanych osób, polityków, wśród nich były hokeista, obecnie europoseł Peter Stiastny.
