CHISINAU, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarusian diasporas in Moldova prepare a wide range of events to mark the 130th birthdays of outstanding Belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas in 2012. The relevant action plan was approved at the 28th meeting of the coordination council of the Belarusian diasporas in Moldova, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in Moldova.
Under the document, Belarusian diasporas in Moldova will take an active part in literature soirees and musicales, debates, roundtables, book fairs and other events dedicated to the Belarusian writers. Events will also mark the 100th birthday of Maksim Tank, the 85th birthday of Ales Adamovich, the 120th birthday of Grigory Shirma, the 120th birthday of Bronislav Tarashkevich, the 125th birthday of Marc Chagall, and other significant dates. Belarusians of Moldova will also be able to participate in a number of events to mark World Poetry Day, World Writers Day, International Children’s Book Day, World Book and Copyright Day, Knowledge Day, Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, International Literacy day, and Library Day.
The Belarusian diasporas of Moldova will conduct presentations and other forum to popularize the Belarusian book, support national expositions at international and national exhibitions.
In 2012 Belarusian diasporas intend to assist cooperation development between establishments of higher education of Belarus and Moldova including exchanges of the teaching staff and students. They will also promote cooperation between the National Art Museum of Belarus and the National Art Museum of Moldova, organization of exhibitions of Belarusian painters.
The action plan also envisages assistance to the National Council of the Belarusian Association of Veterans to develop relations the Council of the Union of Veterans of Moldova. Belarusian diasporas will also assist the exchange of children’s and youth creative collectives, support Belarusian teams and athletes within international competitions in Moldova.
