MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – The removal of visa requirements for official participants of the 2014 IIHF World Championship and tourists will increase the inflow of ice hockey fans from Europe several times over. The opinion was voiced by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Czechia Vasily Markovich as he commented on the decree that lifted visa requirements for 2014 IIHF World Championship participants and tourists.
Vasily Markovich said the decree is definitely a positive moment for hockey fans and for the country that “does its best to properly welcome visitors in 2014”.
Speaking about the arrival of tourists from Czechia, the Ambassador said he believes there will be many of them rooting for their country’s team. Vasily Markovich said that in 2011 about 6,000 Czechs got visas to visit Belarus.
Visa requirements will be lifted for official participants of the 2014 World Ice Hockey Championships and foreign tourists in Belarus on 25 April – 31 May 2014. Official participants of the championships have to be in lists of the official accreditation system of the International Ice Hockey Federation while tourists have to present an original ticket or a digital one for championship matches. Official participants and tourists will not need medical insurance contracts.
