Przewodniczący europarlamentu Jerzy Buzek jest rozczarowany postawą federacji hokeja, która nie zamierza cofnąć decyzji o mistrzostwach świata w Mińsku w 2014 roku.

Federacja hokeja podrzymuje decyzję o mistrzostwach w Mińsku, co potwierdził 5 stycznia szef Międzynarodowej Federacji Hokeja na Lodzie =, Rene Fasel.

.- Na Białorusi nieprzestrzegane są prawa człowieka. Stąd mistrzostwa hokeja w tym kraju to zła decyzja i niespodziewany prezent dla Aleksandra Łukaszenki – mówi rzecznik prasowy przewodniczącego europarlamentu Robert Golański w rozmowie z Raportem Białoruś.

Rzecznik przewodniczącego przypomniał, że Jerzy Buzek już przeszło rok temu wysłał apel do Międzynarodowej Federacji Hokeja na Lodzie, w którym wnosił o odebranie prestiżowej imprezy Białorusi. Zaznaczył, że nie jest to jedynie stanowisko przewodniczącego, ale całego Parlamentu Europejskiego, który przyjął taki postulat w rezolucji.

Federacja hokeja otrzymała wiele sygnałów, że przyznanie mistrzostw Białorusi to zła decyzja: to między innymi rezolucja euro parlamentu, ale także uchwała Kongresu USA, podpisana przez prezydenta Baracka Obamę - przypomniał rzecznik.

W uchwale Kongres postuluje zawieszenie decyzji o mistrzostwach do czasu zwolnienia więźniów politycznych na Białorusi.
