Minsk, March 5 (Interfax-West) - Belarus won't impose restrictions on imports of Ukrainian products, the veterinary and food supervision department at the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus has told Interfax-West.
"Due to information in the mass media on the introduction from 1500 on March 5, 2012 by the Belarusian side of a retaliatory ban on the imports of Ukrainian products, the department reports that Ukraine and Belarus have achieved a constructive dialogue, the parties are exchanging information and considering issues that raised suspicion at the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine," the department said.
It said "the Belarusian side intends to achieve mutual understanding with Ukraine without introducing retaliatory restrictive measures."
Earlier some mass media reported, with reference to the press service of the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine, that the Belarusian side had announced its intention to impose a ban on the import of Ukrainian products in the near future. This, in particular, was said to concern Ukrainian sunflower oil, salt, corn, confectioneries and meal.
As reported, the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine from March 1, 2012 temporarily suspended imports to Ukraine of milk and dairy products from Belarus, as well as animals susceptible to ASF, and products and raw materials produced from them.
