Bělorusko přerušuje diplomatické vztahy s Evropskou unií a Polskem. Jde o reakci na včerejší rozhodnutí EU zavést nové sankce vůči Bělorusku na protest proti zhoršujícímu se stavu lidských práv za vlády prezidenta Alexandra Lukašenka.

Velvyslance sedmadvacítky i Polska vykázaly běloruské úřady z Minsku. Z Bruselu a Varšavy pak běloruské ministerstvo zahraničí povolává své diplomaty. Tento krok následuje po rozhodnutí Evropské unie, která oznámila, že rozšíří sankce vůči běloruskému režimu.

Nová opatření se dotknou dalších 21 policistů a pracovníků justice, kteří se podíleli na represích vůči opozici. Vůči Bělorusku už platí unijní embargo na zbraně a existuje seznam přibližně 200 osob, které nesmějí cestovat do unijních zemí a nedostanou se tam ke svým financím.

Cílem restriktivních opatření se Bělorusko stalo hlavně kvůli zatýkání opozičních předáků po kontroverzních prezidentských volbách.
