Leszek Szerepka ma nadzieję, że wróci na Białoruś razem z innymi ambasadorami Unii.

Z ambasadorem Leszkiem Szerepką rano rozmawiał prezydent Bronisław Komorowski. Ambasador po spotkaniu, w rozmowie z dziennikarzami, podkreślił, że wyraźnie trzeba zaznaczyć, że nie wydalono go z Mińska, a zaproponowano wyjazd na konsultacje. - To jest zupełnie inny poziom stosunków dyplomatycznych – zaznaczył ambasador.

Zapytany, czy ambasador poproszony o wyjazd na konsultacje zawsze musi się udać do swojego kraju, Szerepka odpowiedział, że to zależy w jakiej formie jest to przekazane. A tym razem? - Zostało przekazane w taki sposób, że musiałem wyjechać na konsultacje – powiedział. Przyznał też, że obawia się, że ostatnie wydarzenia mogą wpłynąć na sytuację polskiej mniejszości na Białorusi, ale rząd „stara się to uwzględnić w swojej polityce”.

Leszek Szerepka wyraził nadzieję, że sytuacja na Białorusi się zmieni. - W piątek jest 20. rocznica nawiązania polsko-białoruskich stosunków dyplomatycznych. Mam głęboką nadzieję, że następny okres będzie o wiele lepszy niż ten, który mija - powiedział.

Szerepka wrócił w środę do Polski po tym, gdy władze Białorusi zwróciły się do ambasadorów UE i Polski w Mińsku, by opuścili ten kraj i udali się na konsultacje. To reakcja na kolejne sankcje nałożone na białoruski reżim przez UE.

W odpowiedzi pozostałe kraje Unii zdecydowały o wycofaniu ambasadorów z Białorusi.
