Starptautiskā hokeja federācija ( ]]> IIHF ]]> ) varētu atņemt ]]> Baltkrievijai ]]> tiesības rīkot 2014.gada pasaules čempionātu, vēsta zviedru laikraksts "Svenska Dagbladet".

Vēl janvāra sākumā ]]> IIHF pauda atbalstu Baltkrievijai ]]> čempionāta rīkošanā, bet tagad, iespējams, IIHF ieturēs savādāku politiku. IIHF pārstāvis Simons Šembergs apstiprinājis, ka IIHF padome trešdien nolēmusi šo jautājumu "aktualizēt maijā Helsinkos paredzētajā kongresā". Tomēr IIHF norāda, ka organizācija vienmēr ieturēs neitrālu pozīciju jautājumos par politiku, reliģiju vai cilvēku rasēm.

Tikmēr cilvēktiesību aizstāvju organizācijas '' ]]> Amnesty International ]]> '' ]]> Zviedrijas ]]> nodaļas vadītāja Lisa Berga norādīja, ka Baltkrievijā esošais režīms neievēro vārda brīvību un tā joprojām ir vienīgā Eiropas valsts, kurā spēkā ir nāvessods.

"Sports un politika ir saistīti, un sporta pasākumi tikai ļauj režīmam vēl vairāk parādīt savu spēku. Tajos valsts starptautiskā arēnā sevi var izrādīt, kādu to vēlas redzēt, nevis kā ir īstenībā. Šādi sporta notikumi tikai vēl vairāk pastiprina represijas pret vietējiem varas pēlējiem," uzskata Berga, kā piemēru minot Pekinā notikušās olimpiskās spēles..

Pagājušā gada aprīlī ASV senators no Demokrātu partijas ]]> Diks Darbins vērsās IIHF ]]> ar aicinājumu neaizvadīt 2014. gada pasaules hokeja čempionātu Minskā, ja Baltkrievijas prezidents ]]> Aleksandrs Lukašenko ]]> neatbrīvos politieslodzītos. Savukārt ]]> maijā Eiropas Parlaments (EP) aicināja ]]> Starptautisko Hokeja federāciju (IIHF) atņemt Baltkrievijai minētās tiesības, ja valsts neatbrīvos visus politiskos ieslodzītos. Baltkrievijas ]]> Ārlietu ministrijas ]]> pārstāvis Andrejs Savinihs to novērtēja kā "uzbrukumu miljoniem hokeja līdzjutēju un Baltkrievijas valstij".

Decembrī ASV kongress pieņēma likumprojektu "Par demokrātiju un cilvēktiesībām Baltkrievijā". Tajā ]]> ASV valdība pieprasa atbrīvot ]]> visus ieslodzītos, kuri apsūdzēti par nekārtībām Minskā pērnā gada decembrī pēc Baltkrievijas prezidenta vēlēšanām. Viens no punktiem šajā likumprojektā ir aicinājums Starptautiskajai hokeja federācijai (IIHF) atņemt Baltkrievijai tiesības rīkot 2014.gada pasaules čempionātu.
