Říkají o něm, že má zvláštní nadání ptát se kohokoli, na cokoli. Asi vůbec nejznámější moderátor diskusních pořadů, Američan Larry King, si ale zvyká na novou roli. Loni po 25 letech skončil se svoji slavnou show v televizi. Dnes cestuje po světě, a na otázky spíš odpovídá, než že by je sám pokládal. Teď vůbec poprvé Larry King zavítal do východní Evropy. Na pár dní se zastavil v Bratislavě.

„Nevěděl jsem, co mám čekat, ale Slovensko na mě udělalo opravdu skvělý dojem,“svěřil se Larry King na tiskové konferenci. Syn bělorusko-rakouských rodičů je ve východní Evropě ve svých 77 letech vůbec poprvé.

Larry King přijel na Slovensko na pozvání zpravodajské televize TA3, která slaví 10 let vysílání. Shodou okolností právě před deseti lety vystoupil v diskusním pořadu u Larryho Kinga tehdejší slovenský premiér Mikuláš Dzurinda. King se spletl a představil Dzurindu jako šéfa rumunské vlády.

Podobnou ostudu si uříznul i v Bratislavě, když nechtěně znovu spojil Česko a Slovensko dohromady. Otázka zněla: jaké hosty ze Slovenska jste měl ve vaší show?

„Václav Havel, ten tam byl před pár lety, pak hokejista Jágr, bylo tam pár Čechů, víte, už si přesně nepamatuji, dělal jsem přes šedesát tisíc rozhovorů,“ odpověděl.

Svoje drobné faux pas pak Larry King přešel s lehkostí televizní superhvězdy, a s nadhledem glosoval i svou vlastní technickou neobratnost.

„Používám sice mobilní telefon, ale řídím se heslem, čím jednodušší, tím lepší. CNN mi zřídila Facebookovou stránku a posílám taky příspěvky na Twitter. I když ne sám, ale diktuju je někomu jinému. Víte, já celý život radši mluvil, než psal,“ vysvětlil.

Na otázku , zda se cítí být Larry King opravdu králem, jak to má vepsané ve jméně, odpověděl: „Ano, hlavně když přijdu domů a žena na mě houkne, Larry jdi a vynes odpadky, to jsem úplný King... Ne, ne, kdepak, já nejsem král.“
