It would be useful for Belarus to learn from the Russian experience of CCTV during the upcoming parliamentary elections. This was reported to the press by a member of the Committee on Legislation and State Construction Board, Irina Rainchik, on March 5 in Yaroslavl. Observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia were representatives of Belarus at the polling stations in Yaroslavl region.
Irina Rainchik believes unique the experience of the Russian elections. "Web cameras were installed at all sites, which made it possible to observe the process of voting and counting of ballots online. It may be well used during our parliamentary elections of National Assembly, scheduled for this September," she said,
RIA "Novosti."According to the member of the House of Representatives, Konstantin Shevchik, the Belarusian representatives observed directly the process of the polling stations work at all stages. "We saw no violations. And I can confidently tell you that the elections were honest, free, fair and transparent," he said.
As Telegraf previously reported, Belarus parliamentary elections are scheduled for September 2012. According to chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina, the legislation stipulates that elections are held no later than a month before the expiration of the Deputies’ term of office, which is expected on October 25. Hence, the elections must be held no later than September 25.
